Duration: Overnight (optional but not mandatory)

Capacity: Up to 20 participants with supplied art gear (I will be hiking it up prior to event), but open to public wanting to bring their own.

Join us for an unforgettable overnight plein air painting experience in the serene Babine Mountains. This guided overnight hike led by a professional local artist and passionate outdoors person offers participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature and unleash their creativity while getting local info and tips for hiking.

Whether you're a seasoned artist or a beginner, this event welcomes all abilities. Sarah takes great inspiration from the Babine's and has done many paintings of the area, join her in a unique class setting to find your own inspiration from the area, or simply come and enjoy some time with friends creating art in the mountains. Hike up together as a group and create new friendships, paint the landscape around the basin or beyond, and come back to the warm, spacious cabin to eat and socialize together. With an overnight stay, you can paint when you like, see the light change on the mountain, and wake up to a relaxing alpine setting and hike out at the end of it all. September is the perfect month for hiking, with lovely temperatures, very little bugs, and changing alpine colours.

This plein air event will be done with acrylic paints for participants, however if you prefer another medium, please feel free to bring it up yourself!

Itinerary:

Day 1:

- 9:00 AM: Meet at the trailhead. Participants should ensure they have all necessary camping gear, clothing and food if they choose to stay overnight as well as any extra art supplies they would like to bring.

- 9:15 AM: Introduction and safety briefing by the professional local artist guide.

- 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM: Begin the scenic 9km hike into the alpine. The hike is easy and suitable for all fitness levels.

- 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM: Arrive at the cabin and settle in. Participants can choose their sleeping arrangements and store their belongings.

- 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM: Plein air painting session. The professional artist guide will provide guidance, tips, and demonstrations for those who wish to participate. Participants are free to choose their subjects and use the provided tools, we ask that participants please be mindful with their paint as to not make a mess of the natural area.

- 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM: Free time for exploring the surroundings, relaxing, or continuing to paint.

- 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM: Dinner break. Participants are responsible for their own meals. It's recommended to bring ready-to-eat or easy-to-cook food, and their own stove to cook with. Cabin has some cleaning facilities, but it is the participant's responsibility to bring scrubbies, and a small towel to dry.

- 7:00 PM onwards: Evening painting session. Capture the changing light and atmosphere as the day transitions into night. The artist guide will be available for assistance and feedback.

- **Overnight:** Participants can continue painting under the stars or relax by the cabin's fireplace and chat with therest of the group.

Day 2:

- 6:00 AM - 7:00 AM: Optional sunrise painting session for early risers!

- 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM: Breakfast. Participants are responsible for their own meals.

- 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Final painting session. Capture any last-minute inspiration before preparing to hike back.

- 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Pack up belongings and clean the cabin. Ensure no trace is left behind.

- 1:00 PM: Begin the 9km hike back to the meeting point.

- 4:00 PM: Arrive back at the meeting point. Event concludes.

**What to Bring:**

- IF YOU ARE NOT IN THE GROUP OF 20 and want to join...Art supplies (small canvas/paper, paints, brushes, something for your dirty water etc.)

- Camping gear (sleeping bag, tent (optional), sleeping pad, camp stove, etc.)

- Food and snacks for the duration of the event

- Water bottle (There is a creek to fill up with at the cabin)

- Weather-appropriate clothing and footwear (this includes rain gear)

- Sunscreen and hat

- Headlamp or flashlight

- Personal items (medications, toiletries, etc.)

- Camera or phone for pictures!

- Bear spray

- Good hiking shoes

- warm clothes + cozy cabin outfits

**Notes:**

- This event is open to participants of all ages and abilities. However, participants should be prepared for outdoor activities and moderate physical exertion.

- Participants are responsible for their own safety during the hike and while engaging in plein air painting activities. Sarah has first aid training and will have a first aid kit, but please aim to bring your regular hiking first aid kit for yourself as well.

- In case of inclement weather, the event may be rescheduled or held partially inside the cabin. Participants will be notified in advance.

- The cabin may has limited amenities, so participants should be prepared for rustic (but cozy!) accommodations.

- Respect for nature and Leave No Trace principles are expected from all participants.

- Please leave the pups at home for this event, provincial parks have an on leash rule, and the cabin does not allow dogs inside. Leaving the dogs will also mean you have all the time to spend on relaxing and creating art without having to worry about your pup!
